Chris McGee began with music in San Diego at age twelve, on the drums. In High school McGee found himself the lead singer of a ska band called Monster Zero. Monster Zero played heavily in Point Loma 1989-1990. While studying architecture at Berkeley, McGee heard the Chili Pepper's rendition of "Higher Ground". After that bass became the focus. In his junior year, he met up with those who would later become 008. The band was called Lembas then, and Gabe Ford is the only other original member. Chris would like to give props to Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, Thelonius Monk, Mos Def, De La Soul, Common, KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest, Primus, and Daddy Long Leggs. |
